Inspired by my parents to pray for the lost
Sometimes God allows circumstances in the lives of loved ones that causes us to reflect on those relationships.
For the past several months, I have been praying and reflecting on my two wonderful parents. Not only have I been blessed to be their daughter, but I have learned so many lessons from them!
I think the two greatest lessons I have learned from my dad are the importance of a sincere and deep relationship with God – of always striving to know Him, not just about Him – and the importance of sharing this blessing of faith with others – of being God’s witness to those God has put in my life. My dad has embodied those two lessons all his life – no matter what the circumstance.
From my mom, I am learning what a gracious servant looks like – loving, merciful, giving – no matter what the circumstance – I want to be like her. Only God knows the number of days we live on this earth – but I know for certain, when my parents enter heaven someday, they will each be greeted with their Jesus saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
My parents were world missionaries in Japan and Cameroon – and missionaries here in the United States. They have always prayed for the lost and preached the saving message of Jesus Christ no matter where they have lived. I ask you to join them with your prayers.
Pray for hearts to be prepared to receive the message of God’s forgiveness. Pray for mighty work to be done by the Holy Spirit – for it is He that changes hearts – He that brings a person to faith. But God, in His wisdom, uses His people to be His witnesses, His ambassadors – He uses us to bring that message of already being perfect in Christ.
“And how can anyone preach without being sent? It is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Isaiah 52:7)
“Oh, LORD Jesus! I pray for beautiful feet everywhere! And may that number of beautiful feet grow each day. May each of Your children – each and every Christian – look for opportunities to share the gift of faith that has been given – to be Your witness and ambassador – to bring good news to those You have specifically placed in each of our lives. Don’t let me be complacent or hide my faith under a basket – give me Your courage to let my light shine for You! Thank you, Jesus!! I ask in the awesome name of Jesus, my LORD and God. AMEN.
